STEP 1: Design your Bunny Face Using available art supplies add color to your rabbit face. We chose to use crayons to create fur TEXTURE. We repeated short lines with white and pink around the entire face. We also added eyes and smaller white ovals for the inside of the ears. After creating a lot of TEXTURE, you can add more color using watercolor paint or you can brush water on top of washable marker to create the look of watercolor paint. We decided to use the HOMEMADE WATERCOLOR PAINTS we created a couple of weeks ago. |
REAL or ACTUAL TEXTURE The artist uses materials that actually feel like something when you touch it. Today we will be creating ACTUAL TEXTURE in our collages. | IMPLIED TEXTURE The artist uses special techniques when drawing or painting to make their artwork LOOK like it feels a certain way, but actually is just flat. |
Using your available art supplies and some of the tricks we have learned before, design a few different sheets of paper. Be sure to include PATTERNS and TEXTURES. To create our paper, we drew PATTERNS with crayon first, added washable marker, and brushed water over top of everything. Check out the paper we designed!!!
Cut out your face shape, ears and nose. Using a sharp tool and a straight edge, score the lines in the face of the rabbit. This makes a nice crisp fold. We used an old gas card as a straight-edge and a needle as a sharp point. Align your straight edge to each line and gently drag the tip of the needle along that line. This lightly scratches the paper, making it very easy to fold.
2 DIMENSIONAL has LENGTH and WIDTH FLAT | 3 DIMENSIONAL has LENGTH, WIDTH and DEPTH NOT FLAT |
Once you are finished with the face, nose and ears, turn the entire thing over and add glue to the flaps on the back and ears. Stick the entire bunny head to another sheet of paper. After it dries for a few minutes you can trip the extra paper around the head. This will make the entire project more secure.
Using the extra paper you designed at the beginning of the project, cut out several layers of flowers and leaves. Glue them together to build your flower and attach to the bunny head.
