First, let's review....
ACTUAL or REAL TEXTURE Is when an artist uses materials that actually feel like something when you touch it. | IMPLIED TEXTURE Is when and artist uses special techniques when drawing or painting to make their artwork LOOK like it feels a certain way, but actually is just flat. |
These are colors that are like family, they are very close together and stand by each other's side. These FAMILIES consist of two of the three PRIMARY COLORS and the SECONDARY COLOR they mix to create. Needless to say, these colors mix very well and create beautiful colors when painting.
Using a variety of green crayons, add some texture lines to your paper plate. I simply swirled the crayons around to fill up my plate. You could be more precise by creating a pattern. After that, you will add some green washable marker and brush water over the top of your entire plate (you could also use watercolor paint or DIY LIQUID WATERCOLORS)
Choose one RELATED COLOR FAMILY from above and create one piece of paper for each color in that family. I chose to use RED-ORANGE-YELLOW for my Color Family.
STEP 3: Assemble your Flower We will be constructing our flowers from the bottom up. Begin by cutting your plate into leaf shapes. I chose to have three leaves with my flower. You can have more or less, it is up to you. After that, choose one piece of paper and begin to cut flower petal shapes. Once they are cut out, you can begin to glue them onto the center of your plate. Continue to build your flower, layer after layers. Check it out! | |
Depending on what you have lying around your house. Think of an interesting way to finish your flower. What can you find that would work for the center of the flower? I have A LOT of egg cartons lying around and they are so useful when it comes to art projects. I chose to cut a single egg carton cup and paint it yellow. After that, I used a hot glue gun to attach some cue tips (that I also painted yellow) to the center.
