We are going to kick off today's art lesson with a book. One of my favorites, "Iggy Peck, Architect". What is an ARCHITECT? An ARCHITECT is a person who designs buildings and prepares plans to give to a builder. Schools, churches, football stadiums, hotels and many other buildings have been designed by ARCHITECTS! | |
| If we want to build a place for us to live, or to hang out, or do eat dinner with our friends, we're going to need a special kind of engineering called ARCHITECTURE. ARCHITECTS decide the size, shape, and what a building will be made from. ARCHITECTS need to be good at math and drawing. They need imagination. |
Our project today...
STEP 1: Draw a Tree Follow the directions provided OR invent the perfect tree for your tree house to reset.
|
Using cardboard, or any materials you can gather. Begin to build your Treehouse. I chose to go with a basic design for my treehouse so that I can leave room for other extra cool additions later.
You can choose how you would like to add color, depending on the art supplies you have available! I only have washable markers, and crayons at my house so I decided to first, add some TEXTURE lines with crayons first. After that, I decided to trace those lines with washable marker and brush water over top of everything. This technique gives your artwork the look of watercolor paint. You can also make your own WATERCOLOR paints from home with old markers...Check out the tutorial HERE!!!
